In 1939, producer Hal Roach had fired Stan Laurel but still had Oliver Hardy under contract, and put him to work in a gentle comedy set in the South, and co-starring silent comedy great, Harry Langdon. It didn’t fare very well, but that was probably because critics and fans were expecting Langdon and Hardy to be the new Laurel and Hardy, which was never really the plan. But Hardy and Langdon are both in great form, as was the whole ensemble cast. This original US One Sheet poster is the alternate style, and interesting because it showcases Billie Burke and Alice Brady rather than Hardy or Langdon, and is a lovely image, in the style usually associated with romances.
