The Towering Inferno

This is one of the best of the big budget disaster movies, crammed with familiar faces in danger, that were a staple of 1970s cinema.

The powerhouse pairing of co-leading men Paul Newman and Steve McQueen, with a massive supporting cast of famous faces, helped to make it a massive hit at the box office.

The real life rivalry between the men can even be seen in this poster.  It features the great John Berkey artwork of the inferno, small head shots of the supporting cast, and larger pictures of McQueen and Newman, the former to the left but slightly lower (as his name also appears), in an attempt to ensure that their billing was truly equal.
