The classic example of screwball comedy, 1938’s Bringing Up Baby starred Katharine Hepburn as a wealthy heiress pursuing the affections of Cary Grant as a paleontologist (decades before Ross in Friends).
Original cinema advertising materials for the original 1938 release of Bringing Up Baby are gold dust. They hardly ever come on the market and when they do, they command premium prices, as a result of the age and cult status of the movie, combined with the fact that it wasn’t a commercial success at the time, so very few posters and lobby cards actually went into circulation. The film was re-released in 1955, and original posters for this release are also becoming very hard to find.
This is an original lobby card (#5) from the set of 8 from 1955. It features one of the great scenes from the movie, as well as lovely cartoon border artwork of Hepburn, Grant and Baby.
