Laurel and Hardy’s revival in popularity in the US started in the 1950s, when their original shorts were played on television.
They were then back on the big screen in front of a new (and old) cinema audience in a series of compilation movies produced by Robert Youngson, and featuring clips from silent comedy classics.
The L and H sequences were so popular that his 1965 movie, Laurel & Hardy’s Laughing 20s, had them as the main attraction.
This is an original US Lobby Card, #1 from the set of 8 produced to publicise the movie’s first release nearly sixty years ago. It features a scene from their silent short comedy, Liberty, released in 1929.
