Set on a military base during the Second World War.

Fred Zinnemann directed a star-studded cast including Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift, Deborah Kerr, Donna Reed and Frank Sinatra, two of whom (Reed and Sinatra) won Oscars for their roles in the film. Zinneman also won Best Director Oscar.
