There are so many reasons why we love this original British Quad cinema poster (measuring 30” x 40” and conservation linen backed in great condition) for 1967’s Clambake. We won’t go into the plot of the film too much, as it’s a fairly typical sixties beach musical movie, coming towards the end of the much maligned screen career of Elvis Presley. But it is probably one of the best of those, with a nice supporting cast featuring future Incredible Hulk star, Bill Bixby, and with Shelley Fabares as Elvis’s love interest (she was also with him in Spinout and Girl Happy). But more than just showcasing a fun Elvis outing, this poster features artwork drawn by the great Bob McGinnis, one of the best movie poster artists, especially in the sixties and early seventies. He created the iconic poster for Breakfast at Tiffany’s, as well as the best of the Bonds, Barbarella, Barefoot in the Park, Sleeper, The Biggest Bundle and so many more. This vibrant poster features all of his trademarks of the innocent sixties – four Elvises, a motorbike, a speedboat, and lots of girls!
