The Wrong Man

By 1959, Alfred Hitchcock was in the middle of his classic era, of controlling all the aspects of his movies, a true auteur.  He typically combined a loose plot, usually set off by a “Macguffin” (here, a murder), with a slightly ambiguous leading man in a dangerous position not of his making, and lots of female sex appeal from his blonde leading ladies.

The Wrong Man was a slight departure, based on a true story.  But it still had the central theme of an innocent wrongly accused, and featured a strong performance by Henry Fonda, one of Hollywood’s great leading men, in his only film with Hitchcock.

This is an original US One Sheet featuring Fonda and co-star Vera Miles in the wing mirror of someone watching them in the streets of New York.
