Under-rated and rarely seen, 1971’s Villain is a minor British classic.
A gritty crime drama, penned by Clement and Le Frenais so there’s also humour, but with a slightly unsettling undercurrent.
A strong British cast is led by Richard Burton in fine form.
And it’s topped off by a fantastic piece of cinema poster advertising. This original UK (country of origin) Quad conveys the mood of the film wonderfully, and is also a strong piece in its own right.
