Grease

The summer of 1978 was the summer when our cinema screens were dominated by American high school and college, with the much anticipated filming of the hit musical Grease creating a box office face off with National Lampoon’s Animal House.

Who cares if Olivia, John, Stockard and the rest are a decade too old for high school.  The movie’s soundtrack added new songs to the Broadway version, spawned numerous chart hits, and remains perhaps the most fun ever had on a cinema screen.  And there’s also the brilliant supporting cast of comedy veterans including Caesar, Arden and Blondell.

This is an original Lobby Card, #2 from the set of 8 produced for the film’s first release, and is probably the best of them all, as Sandy and Danny launch into “You’re the One that I Want”.
