Irma La Douce

One of Billy Wilder’s funniest films, with a repeat pairing of Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLean, who had been so good together in The Apartment.

Lemmon is a naive policeman in Paris, who gets moved to the red light district, and is soon looking after, and falling in love with, MacLaine.

The original advertising displays were all based on the same attractive cartoon artwork with plain and arresting (no pun intended) blocks of colour.  We think that this UK Quad has perhaps the best design of them all.
