Bridget Jones’s Diary

Renee Zellweger plays the hapless, seemingly eternally single, Bridget, with Hugh Grant as her lothario boss, Daniel Cleaver, and Colin Firth as Mark Darcy, an altogether more respectable barrister.

Bridget decides that in order to find love she must improve herself and begins to keep a diary to help her achieve her goals.

Both the film and the character have taken on cult status over the years, but many of us knew and loved Bridget long before the film hit our screens.  Helen Fielding originally introduced us to Bridget in the form of a newspaper column before the novel of the same name was published in 1996.
