David Lean’s 1962 multi-Oscar winning epic dramatisation of the story of T E Lawrence, played by Peter O’Toole, in his breakthrough role.

The story centres around Lawrence’s time as a British Army Officer in the Ottoman Empire during the First World War and his work amongst the warring factions.

With an excellent supporting cast including Omar Shariff, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn and Jack Hawkins the film won 7 Academy Awards.

The enduring popularity of the movie helps to make original cinema advertising pieces very popular, and the main poster’s depiction of the face of O’Toole as Lawrence is surely one of the best known of all poster images.
