This story of lust, murder and deception remains one of the greatest classic examples of (the Hollywood version of) film noir.

Lana Turner as Cora is surely one of the best (ie worst) examples of the scheming femme fatale, with John Garfield as Frank, the drifter she ensnares to help her get rid of her older (but not without assets) husband, Nick.

The darkness of the movie (based on James M Cain’s pulp novel, which is illustrated in the poster) and the relationship between Cora and Frank is perfectly conveyed in this original US One Sheet movie poster from the film’s first release in 1946.  It has understandably become a highly sought after piece, and is increasingly difficult to find, as collectors tend to hold onto it once they’ve found it.
