The Great Escape

A classic movie, and a perennial Christmas treat in the days before video and multiple channels.

Steve McQueen as the Cooler King leads a real all star cast in a film based on what was really a tragic real-life escape.  It starts in a fairly light hearted way, and then gradually gets more serious (and exciting) as the tension mounts up to the escape and its aftermath.

Posters and lobby cards from its original cinema release are very popular, and the One Sheet is a classic of its kind, with artwork from Frank McCarthy perfectly illustrating the breakout and with instantly recognisable appearances from McQueen, James Garner and Richard Attenborough.
