The last of the Marx Brothers’ movies in their original run at MGM, The Big Store still contained plenty of typical Marx business (and their long-time foil, Margaret Dumont).

Any original Marx Brothers material, especially vintage film posters, are highly sought after – the Brothers retaining their reputation and popularity long after some of their contemporaries have been largely forgotten.

An additional reason is the fact that many of the original posters for their movies were produced by the great poster and newspaper artist, Al Hirschfeld.

This is one of those – an original US One Sheet cinema poster for an early (1950s) theatrical re-release of the film.

Notes:

Conservation linen backed but with many signs of age, including fold lines and separation, minor paper scuffing and loss, and smudging, as well as minor (but original) printing shadows in the lower half. But it still displays very nicely, given its sparse design.
