Dennis Hopper’s counter-culture road movie, was both a big hit and critically acclaimed as the Sixties came to an end.
It’s still frequently revived for festival showings, and has lost little of its impact.
As a result of its cult status, original cinema advertising for the title has always been very collectable. This US One Sheet poster, from the 1972 cinematic re-release, is one of the very rare examples of a re-release poster being more sought after than the original. Coming only three years after the movie’s first release, this has the advantage of featuring an iconic image of both Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda on their motorbikes.
