Desert Attack (Ice Cold in Alex)

1958’s popular WWII drama finally reached the screens in the US in 1960 with a shorter running time, and re-titled as Desert Attack.

The British cut is definitely the best, with its longer running time adding to the drama of the cross desert trek, with the group’s leader sustained by the thought that when they reach Alexandria, they will all be drinking ice cold lagers in his favourite bar.

And for UK tv viewers of the 1980’s, there’s also the Carlsberg ad to remember.
