Cape Fear

Martin Scorsese is a brave man, as witnessed here by his decision to remake 1962’s classic of evil intentions with the same title, with its big performances from Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck.

He pretty much pulled it off in this 1991 version starring Robert De Niro (as Max Cady), Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange and Juliette Lewis.  With nice cameos from Messrs Mitchum and Peck.

But nasty as De Niro is here, for pure threat, you have to go back to the original.

This original release US One Sheet movie poster conveys the feel of the movie well, with the eyes of de Niro, the family at risk, and the setting for the final suspenseful scenes.
