A Shot in the Dark

The Pink Panther was a big hit, and the secondary character of Inspector Clouseau likewise.

So in 1964, Blake Edwards put him front and centre in what is essential a slapstick country house murder farce.

Sellers tweaked the Clousea accent, Herbert Lom arrived as his increasingly disturbed boss.  And the rest was history.

The cartoon Panther isn’t in the original film posters and lobby cards, but the popularity of the series makes them no less collectable.

This is original US Lobby Card #5 from the set of 8 produced for the film’s first release.  It’s a very colourful set, with lots of great scenes, and this one could be the best of them all, with a classic shot of Clouseau taking on the billiards table.
